Nanaimo RCMP are currently investigating a suspicious incident that took place on on Jingle Pot Road yesterday.
According to police, the incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 15th, near the intersection of Jingle Pot Road and Mostar Road.
A concerned motorist reported the incident to police after noticing a young woman in her early twenties walking briskly along Jingle Pot Road.
According to the motorist, the woman, described as Caucasian with light-coloured hair to her mid-back, appeared to be waving her arms as she walked.
She was wearing a light-coloured hoodie and dark pants.
Behind the woman, the motorist observed an older model dark-coloured SUV, resembling either a Nissan Pathfinder or Ford Explorer, driving slowly. The SUV had heavily tinted windows, raising further concern.
The motorist initially continued driving but became uneasy about the situation and decided to turn around to check on the woman.
By the time he returned, both the woman and the SUV were gone.
The SUV was last seen speeding away, turning onto what the witness believed was Porcupine Hill Trail.
Unfortunately, the motorist was unable to see whether the woman had entered the vehicle, nor could he identify the number of occupants or the vehicle’s license plate.
“There may be nothing to this, but out of an abundance of caution, investigators are following up and are looking to speak with the woman or the driver of the vehicle,” stated R/Cst Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.
The Nanaimo RCMP is urging residents in the area, particularly those living near the Jingle Pot and Mostar Road intersection, as well as nearby streets such as Rosstown Road, to review any available doorbell or dashcam footage from between 8:45 p.m. and 9:15p.m. on August 15th.
Motorists who were in the vicinity at that time are also asked to check their dashcam recordings.
