Here’s what motorists should expect for Gorge Road construction this week

The City of Victoria says that impacts should be expected on Gorge Road this week as construction continues.

Victoria is installing protected bike lanes along the arterial corridor and are re-paving the road while they are in the process.

This week, road marking removal for installation of bike lanes is being done on Bridge Street between Gorge Road and Ellice Street from August 12th to 18th.

Motorists should know that because of this work, Hillside Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction near the construction zone.

On Gorge Road between Jutland Road and Balfour Avenue, underground and concrete work will continue throughout the week.

For this work, Gorge Road will also be reduced to one lane in either direction and noise and dust in the area is to be expected, according to the City.

Crews are preparing this zone to have a new water main installed.

Working hours for these endeavours will typically be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The City noted that, should there be additional weekend, holiday or night work which generates notable disruptions to traffic flow or significant noise, advance notice will be provided.

Urgent worksite safety concerns should be reported directly to the contractor, Jacob Bros Construction Ltd, by phone at (604) 812-2277.
