It’s Friday already, Victoria!

How will you spend your evening? Take advantage of the long summer days and include some much-needed beach time, catch a folk festival and more.

If you’re looking for a night out, Steph Strings is performing at Capital Ballroom or you can spend your evening with some of the most fabulous drag performers at Friends of Dorothy.

Without further delay, here’s 5 things to do in and around Victoria on Friday, July 19th:

Steph Strings: Capital Ballroom

Capital Ballroom is hosting Steph Strings, a guitarist and singer/songwriter from Australia!

With influences from the John Butler Trio, Kim Churchill and Ziggy Alberts, this young storyteller has combined fingerstyle guitar with bursts of percussion, Celtic, blues and folk.

Tickets are $22.50 and can be purchased here.

Late Night Drag

Come party with the folks at Friends of Dorothy for Late Night Drag!

Get together with friends, grab a cocktail, get your dance on and enjoy the incredible lineup of revolving drag performers.

  • When: Friday, July 19th from 9:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Cowichan Folk Guild: 40th Annual Islands Folk Festival

Promising fantastic food, music and camaraderie, the Cowichan Folk Guild is thrilled to have everyone back for the 40th annual Islands Folk Festival.

It will take place at Providence Farm in Duncan from Friday, July 19th to Sunday, July 21st, and will feature a lineup of local, national and international artists.

Since its inception in 1984, this rich celebration of folk music and culture has become a staple community event—drawing in thousands of attendees every year!

Ticket prices vary depending on the package you’re after, and can be purchased in ‘weekend pass’ bundles or individual days. Take a look at those, here.

Dallas Road/Ogden point

This stretch of of the coast is popular for a reason! The entire length of Dallas Road is neighboured with breathtaking views of the ocean and there are multiple staircases along the path for beach access points.

Where Dallas Road meets Dock Street, you’ll find the Breakwater access that takes you along a elevated path out over the water.

Plus, anywhere along Dallas is a great place to watch the sunset!

Backcountry Fridays: Whiskey Business

Every Friday the iconic Duke Saloon hosts a Backcountry Friday event with incredible live music and drink specials!

Dance and sing your heart out along to some good ol’ country tunes and make memories with pals—who knows, you may even make a friend or two.
