We’re just hours away from an all-Canadian playoff matchup!
Ahead of the Vancouver Canucks’ second-round matchup against the Oilers, a Canucks flag was raised at the BC Legislature in Victoria on Tuesday, May 7th.
Team mascot Fin was in attendance, as well as retired NHL player and Canucks advocate Kirk McLean.
The flag was raised with Premier David Eby, BC Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport Lana Popham, BC Legislative Speaker Raj Chouhan, and several other MLAs.
For the first time in three decades, the Vancouver Canucks will face the Edmonton Oilers in a playoff series.
Both teams are the last Canadian teams in the NHL playoffs after the Winnipeg Jets and Toronto Maple Leafs were eliminated in the first round.
It took the Canucks six grueling games to eliminate the defensive minded Nashville Predators while Edmonton Oilers had a surprisingly easier time ousting the LA Kings.
