A report of an erratic driver in Langford on Friday took a turn after it culminated into a truck crashing into a pole.

On January 26th, around 2:30 p.m., West Shore RCMP was inundated with reports of a blue Dodge Ram pickup truck swerving recklessly near Florence Lake Road in Langford.

The situation escalated quickly when the truck collided with a light pole in the vicinity of the 3000 block of Leigh Road.

The driver, a 29-year-old man, was promptly apprehended on suspicion of drug impairment and charged with dangerous operation and impaired driving of a motor vehicle.

Following the arrest, he was released with an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court to face charges related to the incident, along with a 90-day driving prohibition.

The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and sustained non-life-threatening injuries, receiving necessary medical attention.

“West Shore RCMP thanks the multiple witnesses who called police to report this dangerous driving right away. We are continuing to investigate the additional reports received,” said Cpl. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP Media Relations Officer.
