As the festive season descends upon us, tis’ the season for accolades, and Vancouver Island’s Butchart Gardens is decking the halls of culinary achievement.

Amidst the shimmering lights and floral wonders of Butchart Gardens, there’s a hidden gem that’s now sparkling with an additional accolade—the esteemed recognition of being among Canada’s Top 100 Restaurants for 2023.

The Dining Room at Butchart Gardens has claimed its place on this prestigious list, marking a milestone not just for the restaurant itself, but for the culinary scene of the island.

Known for its enchanting ambience, the upcoming Christmas light-up becomes an ideal backdrop for a culinary journey that goes beyond the traditional floral haven that Butchart Gardens is celebrated for.

While visitors have long cherished leisurely strolls amid blossoms, this new recognition beckons them to savor a different kind of beauty—the artistry of eating good food.

The timing of the win for The Dining Room couldn’t be more perfect, coinciding with the official holiday light-up scheduled at 5 p.m. on December 1st.

Once the grounds are illuminated with tens of thousands of lights, take a leisurely stroll through their festive greenery.

With complimentary carousel rides for the evening, along with traditional carollers and festive brass, there is an abundance of seasonal sounds and Christmas magic to be experienced at the Gardens!

From December 1st to January 6th, the Gardens will be open to the public from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the last entry at 9 p.m. However, visitors on the grounds can continue to enjoy the spectacle until 10 p.m.—make sure to book a reservation with the Dining Room

“Culled from over 1.1 million OpenTable diner reviews and using dining metrics including diner ratings, percentage of reservations made in advance, and five-star reviews, the list highlights some of the top spots favoured by diners this year,” read the OpenTable’s message on the website.

A total of 20 restaurants across British Columbia claimed spots on the list, with a significant majority situated in the bustling dining scene of Vancouver.
