BC Conservation officers seize boat for illegal salmon fishing near Port Alberni

A group of anglers had their boat and eight sockeye salmon seized for illegal fishing near Port Alberni last week.

BC Conservation officers, in collaboration with the BC RCMP and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, executed a successful joint patrol operation near Port Alberni on Friday, July 21st.

During the operation, a fishing boat was seized, and eight sockeye salmon were confiscated.

The enforcement officers encountered three anglers on the boat while patrolling Sproat Lake. Upon inspection, it was discovered that none of them possessed valid fishing licenses, and they were found to be illegally retaining the salmon.

The BC Conservation Officer Service promptly took to social media to share the news of the seizure.

According to their post, the boat and the salmon were seized under the Wildlife Act, and a thorough investigation is currently underway.
