Have you heard the news?

Victoria was among two separate ranking reports and took home top spot in both— we’re on a roll!

TravelAwaits has just named Victoria the #1 walking city outside of the US and the #1 best mid-size city in the world!

Praised for the waterfront views, beautiful landmarks and attractions like Butchart Gardens, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, and the Fairmont Empress, Victoria has wowed visitors and locals alike for many years.

Victoria has put a lot of effort over the years into making the city more pedestrian friendly — beginning with the section of Government Street that remains a no-car zone to this day.

Throughout the summer, plenty more temporary no-car zones pop up, making festivals, concerts, and markets safer and more vibrant.

Also noted is its small-town feel — which keeps the culture down to earth, warm, and inviting.

Other notable walking cities include Edinburgh, Scotland, Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Québec City, Quebec..

For the best mid-size cities, also mentioned included Galway, Ireland, Salzburg, Austria, and Guanajuato, Mexico.
