The BC Ministry of Health reported 536 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, August 11th.
There have been 153,849 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
New cases were reported in these health regions:
- Vancouver Coastal Health: 105
- Fraser Health: 135
- Island Health: 26
- Interior Health: 258
- Northern Health: 12
- Resident outside Canada: 0
There are currently 3,585 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.
148,446 people who tested positive have recovered.
There are now a total of 72 people in hospital due to COVID-19, 29 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.
1 new person has died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll at 1,778.
Outbreaks
There are currently 8 outbreaks in long-term care: Holyrood Manor, Kin Village West Court and Evergreen Baptist Care Society in Fraser Health; Nelson Jubilee Manor, Kootenay Street Village, Cottonwoods Care Centre and Brookhaven Care Centre in Interior Health; and Discovery Harbour in Island Health.
Island Health:
Island Health reported 26 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Island region and 185 active cases.
Breakdown of cases on Vancouver Island:
- South Vancouver Island Active cases: 100 │Total Cases: 2162
- Central Vancouver Island Active cases: 73 │ Total Cases: 2613
- North Vancouver Island Active cases: 12 │Total Cases: 728
2 person remains in hospital with 2 in ICU.
There have been no new deaths in the Island Health region today, and a total of 41 deaths on Vancouver Island.
Vaccinations
82.2% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 71.1% have received their second dose.
In addition, 83.0% of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 72.9% have received their second dose.
To date, 7,114,250 (+26,514) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC; 3,296,603 (+22,487) of which are second doses.
