VicPD arrest 28-year-old man for attempted murder in Bay Street shooting

Victoria Police have arrested 28-year-old Tyler Wardrope in connection with the shooting on Bay Street earlier this month.

On August 6th, a man was shot outside a Fernwood residence in the 1500-block of Bay St. At the time, officers closed the area off to traffic for several hours while carrying out their investigation.

As a result of their investigation, VicPD and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT) arrested Wardrope without incident at a residence in Highlands early in the morning of Wednesday, August 14th.

An update from police states that the victim of the shooting continues to recover from his wounds.

Wardrope faces charges of attempted murder, careless use or storage of a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. His next court appearance is scheduled for this afternoon.

The file remains under investigation and police emphasized in a statement that Tyler Wardrope is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
