A young man from Salt Spring Island has died after what police call an accidental shooting on Sunday morning.
According to a media release, Salt Spring RCMP responded to a reported shooting at a residence where six youths were present.
One of the teens had been shot and was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a Vancouver hospital where he died later that day.
RCMP continue to investigate the incident, with the assistance of the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit, and the BC Coroner’s Service.
The victim’s name and age have not been released.
