Police looking for witnesses in sexual assault investigation

Victoria police are looking for witnesses after a report of a sexual assault on Cormorant Street, around 2 a.m on Wednesday.
A passersby called police, who attended the scene and took a man into custody.

Detectives believe there are several witnesses who saw the victim and the suspect together on Cormorant Street, before and during the assault.

In particular, investigators are looking for a male witness who was dressed in black and walking along Cormorant Street during the incident. It is believed the suspect yelled at this witness during the assault.
