Saanich Police are investigating after a woman was reportedly stabbed near Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary, on Wednesday afternoon.

The woman was walking in the park just around 2 p.m. when she was approached by someone. She told police she then suffered a stab wound to her upper body, ran to her car and called police.

Police say it is unknown at this time if the victim and suspect knew each other. The victim has been unable to provide a description of the suspect.

She was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.

There’s no reason to believe the incident is linked to any other outstanding cases in the Saanich area, according to Saanich Police.

“At this time we are still collecting a statement from the victim and canvassing the area for witnesses,” Sgt. Jereme Leslie said.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious to call Saanich Police at 250-475-4321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
