5 Food Trucks to check out at the HarbourCats games this weekend

Share

If you haven’t been to a HarbourCats game recently, you might not know that one of the biggest draws to Royal Athletic Park is not just the game down on the field.  It’s also the wide food selections available up in the concourse level too.

Here’s what you’ll find if you get out to a game this weekend:

#1 Floyd’s Diner food truck

This one’s hard to miss, but it’s the only one down the third base line.  Bright pink, and in the picnic table area, it offers gourmet burgers, poutine, and a variety of great options Floyd’s is known for.  Now, the lines can be long, because the food is so good.  But the bonus is you can see the game while in those lineups, from the great vantage point above the visiting team dugout.

#2 Crispy Fish and Chips food truck

Fish and chips. At a baseball game.  Does it get any better?  This food truck has become a hotbed of activity in its first season at the park, and always hopping.

#3 FreshCoast Health Food Bar food truck

This one’s not your typical food truck, if there is such a thing.  A new-age, healthier option, with a plethora of different items to choose from — smoothies, salads among them.

#4 Jackson’s Ice Cream truck

If you are from Victoria, you probably know Jackson’s.  Hard ice cream, cone or sundae. Baseball.  Sunny weather, outdoors.  No more likely needs to be said about what Jackson and his crew do to make people happy.

#5 Wilson’s Mini-Donuts cart

This one is new in 2016, and it’s quite an addition — lined up, these mini-donuts aren’t eaten as much as they are inhaled.

You’ll also find the Romeo’s Pizza stand, with pizza by the slice ready to go.  Plus of course, the very well-run City of Victoria concessions have all kinds of drink options, as well as ballpark standards like hot dogs with all the fixings.   The City concessions also have beer, cider and cooler options, including the Spinnakers special edition HarbourCats ISA.

The HarbourCats close out the 2016 regular season with home games this Friday and Saturday (fireworks night) at 6:35pm, as well as Sunday at 1:00pm.
