Five fireworks shows happening in and around Victoria this weekend

Oh Canada! What better way to celebrate our nation’s 150th birthday than with fireworks!

Not only do Victorians have a selection of four firework shows this week to celebrate the big day, but Saturday also marks the kick off to weekly night fireworks at the Butchart Gardens – and they’re spectacular!

Here are five firework events happening around town this weekend:

1 – Victoria Harbourcats Fireworks – June 30th (after the ball game)

Tonight, June 30th, take in a Victoria Harbourcats vs. Cowlitz Black Bears game, followed by an amazing 18-minute fireworks display from the outfield at Royal Athletic Park. Game time is 6:35 pm. Fireworks will follow right after the game.

Other Harbourcats games taking place this long weekend:

  • SATURDAY – Canada Day game, 1:05 pm start vs. Cowlitz Black Bears. Skydivers and ‘Zamboni Man’ Marko Kardum return.
  • HOLIDAY MONDAY5:00 pm start vs. the Victoria Mavericks – LHP Claire Eccles will start this game on the pitcher’s mound.  This game serves as a bit of a showcase for the Victoria Mavericks team that will serve as the host team for the Canadian Men’s National Baseball Championships in August here in Victoria.

 

2 – Sidney Musical Fireworks Extravaganza – June 30th at around 10:15 pm

Sidney knows how to celebrate Canada in a big way! Celebrations begin June 30th and the evening will be capped off with a musical fireworks extravaganza along the Sidney Waterfront.

3 – Inner Harbour Fireworks Display – July 1 at 10:15 pm

After celebrating Canada Day downtown with an exciting lineup of live music and family-friendly events – make sure to stick around for a spectacular fireworks show along the inner harbour. Tune in to accompanying broadcasts from the Zone 91.3 or 100.3 The Q.

4 – Sooke Flats Fireworks – July 1 between 10:00 pm and 10:30 pm

Following a day of celebration Sooke will also be hosting a fireworks in the field at the Sooke River campgrounds.

5 – Butchart Gardens – July 1 at 10:15 pm

Want to see fireworks but prefer to skip the downtown crowd? Head to the Butchart Gardens and check out the jaw-dropping, dazzling fireworks show that features both aerial and ground displays, beautifully choreographed to show tunes.
