Police arrest man believed to be responsible for Saanich Peninsula farm stand theft

Two men have been arrested after a break-and-enter at a business on Keating Cross Road.

One of the suspects has also been charged in the theft of a cash box from a farm stand on Prosser Road in Central Saanich in March.

Several farmers on the Saanich Peninsula say this man is responsible for theft of food and/or cash from their farm stands.

Central Saanich Police arrested 44-year-old Shane Michael Smith and 36-year-old Gerald Frances Lake.

Both face charges that include breaking-and-entering and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

Additionally, Lake has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 in relation to the farm stand theft.

Both have been released on bail with numerous conditions.
