The 5-foot long corn snake holed up in a Victoria drain pipe has finally been caught.

City of Victoria crews were investigating a sinkhole at the Quadra and Mason intersection last Wednesday, when their camera came face-to-face with the large snake.

The City of Victoria confirmed they caught the snake Thursday evening by posting a photo on Twitter of a staff member holding the serpent with the following caption:

“It’s official, no more snake in the drain. The snake has been sssssafely caught,” City of Victoria wrote on Twitter last night.

The snake was handed over to animal control where it will be looked after.

Crews tried several different techniques throughout the week, but the stubborn snake was able to elude them each time. No details have been released on how they lured it out.
