About 45,000 people are expected to head down to Victoria’s Inner Harbour today for the 27th annual Victoria Symphony Splash!

From a floating stage in the Inner Harbour, Maestra Tania Miller, the orchestra and special guests will perform. The grand finale at 9:30 p.m. will feature the 1812 Overture – accompanied by bells, cannons and fireworks.

The event begins at 1 p.m. with children’s activities in the Splash Family Zone, and the opening act Chris Millington and Dancin’ will begin at 4 p.m.

Everyone who donates $5 or more will receive a Splash button. Watch for volunteers roaming the event with buttons.

In order to transform the Inner Harbour into a concert hall, police will be closing roads along Belleville and Government Streets for much of the day. The initial road closures start at 5 am along Belleville Street, and then progressing to the full closures along Government, Belleville, and Menzies Streets from 2pm until the event ends after 10pm.
