Golfers in Greater Victoria have no shortage of highly regarded courses close to home, and a new national ranking backs that up.
Four local golf courses have been included in SCOREGolf’s 2026 list of the Top 100 golf courses in Canada, including two that made significant jumps from the previous ranking.
Victoria Golf Club was the highest-ranked local course, placing 14th in Canada with an overall score of 8.145 out of 10.
The historic course in Oak Bay slipped slightly from its 13th-place finish in 2024 but remains the second-highest-ranked golf course in BC. Only Capilano Golf and Country Club in West Vancouver ranked higher in the province, and placed sixth nationally.
Royal Colwood Golf Club also secured a spot near the top of the list, placing 36th with a score of 7.723. The Colwood course was ranked 34th in 2024.
Both Victoria Golf Club and Royal Colwood were designed by renowned golf course architect A.V. Macan, who was responsible for numerous courses throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Bear Mountain’s Valley Course saw some impressive gains on the list, climbing 20 positions. The Valley Course moved from 82nd in 2024 to 62nd this year, receiving an overall score of 7.522.
The resort’s Mountain Course made an even larger jump, moving from 105th in the previous ranking to 79th in Canada. Its rise of 26 positions brought the course back inside the national Top 100.
Both Bear Mountain courses were designed by Jack and Steve Nicklaus and are open to the public.
Greater Victoria’s four entries were the only Vancouver Island courses included in the national ranking.
BC performed strongly overall, with 17 courses making the Top 100. Other highly ranked courses in the province included Sagebrush in Merritt at 15th, Shaughnessy in Vancouver at 16th, Greywolf in Panorama at 17th and Tobiano in Kamloops at 23rd.
SCOREGolf evaluates courses using nine categories: beauty, design, challenge, strategy, conditioning, par-3 holes, par-4 holes, par-5 holes and overall fun factor.
The scores are combined to give each course an overall rating out of 10.
Cabot Cliffs in Inverness, Nova Scotia retained its position as Canada’s top-ranked golf course. It was followed by Cabot Links, St. George’s Golf and Country Club, Toronto Golf Club and Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.
The 2026 ranking marks the 14th edition of SCOREGolf’s list of Canada’s 100 best golf courses.
