This one’s for the gear heads!
As the ever-popular Oak Bay Collector Car Festival makes its return to Oak Bay Avenue for the 26th year on Sunday, July 19th, residents and visitors will soon start to see classic and unique cars showing up around the city.
The event attracts over 300 unique cars and has become one of the most anticipated vehicle displays on Vancouver Island.
According to organizers, this year’s show will feature a celebration of the 140th anniversary of Mercedes Benz. The event will also showcase mini trucks, trucks from the Canadian Army Reserve, Wheeled Howitzers and more.
Owners of collector cars and enthusiasts of vintage cars of all makes can bring their vehicles to Oak Bay Avenue to be admired by residents and visitors alike.
Vehicles will be placed in sections along five blocks of Oak Bay Avenue, along Monterey to Mitchell Street, plus portions of Hampshire Road and Elgin Street.
Admiring these cars may be an ‘exhausting’ affair, so if you’re looking for a ‘brake,’ many of the city’s favourite Oak Bay businesses will be open during the event, as well as a food court with various food trucks and a burger BBQ at the rear of the Municipal Hall parking lot.
The show is free for attendees, and car exhibitors can register online here for $25, or for $30 at the gate if space remains.
There will be prizes awarded to entrants, with notable local personalities as judges of the event. These prizes are based on several categories, and everyone will be doing their best to get their cars up to snuff for the event.
Do you have a car worth showing off? Head to the Oak Bay Car Show and show the city!
