Victoria hotel named best in Canada and among top hotels in the world by Tripadvisor

A Victoria hotel has once again earned top honours on the world stage!

Abigail’s Hotel has been named the best hotel in Canada and the seventh best hotel in the world in Tripadvisor’s 2026 Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards.

Located at 906 McClure Street, the boutique hotel is housed in a 30-room Tudor mansion dating back to the 1930s. The adults-only property is known for its luxury suites, gourmet three-course breakfasts and personalized guest experience.

According to Tripadvisor, the annual awards recognize the highest-rated travel experiences around the world based on reviews and ratings submitted by travellers over a 12-month period.

“The Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best title celebrates the highest level of excellence in travel,” Tripadvisor said.

“Out of our 8 million listings, fewer than 1% achieve this milestone.”

In its description of Abigail’s Hotel, Tripadvisor praised the property’s location near Victoria’s Inner Harbour, exceptional customer service and high-end amenities.

“Abigail’s Hotel is a charming, luxurious spot with a convenient location close to Victoria’s Inner Harbour,” Tripadvisor wrote.

“The elegantly appointed rooms boast rain head showers and jetted soaker baths, making it a great value choice for a relaxing escape.”

The recognition marks the second consecutive year that Abigail’s Hotel has been ranked as the number one hotel in Canada by Tripadvisor.

The hotel celebrated the achievement on social media, noting it was especially proud to be the only Canadian hotel ranked among the global top 10.

“We are proud and honoured to share that Abigail’s Hotel has been recognized among the top seven hotels in the world and remains the number one hotel in Canada,” said the hotel.

“This remarkable achievement would not have been possible without our dedicated team, whose passion and commitment create exceptional experiences every day, and without our wonderful guests whose support and loyalty continue to inspire us.”

Abigail’s wasn’t the only Vancouver Island property recognized on this year’s list.

Vancouver Island was well represented on the list, with four properties earning spots in Tripadvisor’s top 10 hotels in Canada. The Wickaninnish Inn ranked fourth, Sonora Resort in seventh and Victoria’s Magnolia Hotel & Spa in eighth.
