The BC Lions brought football back to Vancouver Island on Saturday as they faced the Edmonton Elks in a pre-season matchup at Langford’s Starlight Stadium.
Fans packed the stadium after tickets for the game sold out in just two hours earlier this spring. The Lions returned to Langford after drawing another sold-out crowd against the Calgary Stampeders at the same venue last year.
By halftime, the Elks held a 17-10 lead over the Lions before going on to secure a 34-16 victory.
The Lions won’t return to BC Place until July due to the FIFA World Cup taking over the venue this summer. Instead, the team will open its regular season in Kelowna.
The Lions wrap up their pre-season schedule on Friday, May 29th against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Winnipeg.
