Happy hump day, Victoria!

There are some seriously cool events happening this Wednesday.

From comedy night at the Mint to a wine and culinary experience at Brentwood Bay Resort for a date night that is sure to be memorable, there is plenty going on in the city.

Support some local DJs in your community or catch a screening of a legendary New York City concert.

Here are 5 things to do in and around Victoria this Wednesday, April 29th:

Community Open Decks at Community Urban Bazaar

Get out there and support some local DJs!

Presented by The Cut and hosted by Community Urban Bazaar, this event is a volunteer-operated community event intended to let new and experienced DJs play their music in front of the community.

Sets will be 30 minutes long.

Tickets are $5 at the door. Donations are encouraged by the organizers to help recoup the start-up cost. You can donate to the gofundme here.

Quail’s Gate Wine Experience at Brentwood Bay Resort

Head down to the Arbutus Room for an evening of incredible BC wines, locally sourced dishes and a true celebration of place.

Join in for a five-course long-table dinner thoughtfully curated by Guest Chef Matt Cusano, former chef at Quails’ Gate. Each dish showcases seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and is intentionally paired to highlight the unique character of a selected Quails’ Gate wine.

Throughout the evening, guests will be guided by Caroline Tucker of Quails’ Gate Winery alongside Brentwood Bay Resort’s award-winning sommelier, Adriano Cartuliares.

Together, they will share insights into the craftsmanship, stories and philosophy behind each pour, creating an engaging and immersive tasting experience.

Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase their favourite Quails’ Gate wines to enjoy at home.

Elevated casual attire is recommended.

Tickets are $145 plus fees and taxes and can be purchased here.

Power To The People: John & Yoko Live in NYC at the Roxy Theatre

Head down to the Roxy Theatre for a screening of Power to the People: John & Yoko Live in NYC

Power To The People: John & Yoko Live in NYC is the 2026 multiscreen concert film of two massive live shows by John Lennon and Yoko Ono at Madison Square Garden, New York City on August 30th, 1972.

Newly restored, re-edited and remixed by the Lennons’ seven-time Grammy-award winning team.

Phillips Comedy Night at the Mint

Every Wednesday, Morgan and Drew bring the best comics in the city together for a fresh, fun night of laughs in the heart of downtown Victoria. Wildly popular and always new, Comedy Night is a hilarious night out.

Don’t forget to grab some of the delicious west coast Himalayan cuisine that the Mint is famous for.

Tickets are $15 per person online and can be purchased here, or $20 per person at the door. Organizers say showing up 45 minutes early ensures you get the best seats.

Book Launch Event at Munro’s Books

Join Munro’s for a night of artistic expression and inspiring conversation between authors Alex Bertram and Diana Weymar!

We will be launching Alex Bertram’s book, Unequivocal Magic, which speaks to the “quiet power” of photographs and their hidden creativity, bringing readers into the author’s own journey into the history of a 1910 portrait of iconic French actress, Sarah Bernhardt.

Diana Weymar is the creator of the brilliantly subversive Tiny Pricks Project, and author of Crafting a Better World: Inspiration and DIY Projects for Craftivists. Crafting a Better World features essays, exclusive profiles of well-known creatives and social justice projects that readers can create by themselves or with their communities.

The event is free to attend and everyone is welcome.
