Victoria’s Pacific Football Club (FC) will host Calgary’s Cavalry FC in the preliminary round of the TELUS Canadian Championship after Canada Soccer’s official draw on Saturday.
Out of 15 teams, 14 will compete in the opening round, with the Vancouver Whitecaps, the top-ranked club, receiving a bye to the quarter-finals.
This preliminary round, running from May 5th to 10th, will feature all eight Canadian Premier League teams, four League1 Canada provincial champions, and MLS clubs Toronto FC and CF Montréal.
In this stage, seven matchups will take place, including Pacific FC versus Calgary FC. This announcement follows Pacific FC’s dispute with Langford, which has forced the club to book Starlight Stadium on a game-by-game basis.
This is the fourth year the two teams have faced off in the Canadian Championships. The winner will advance to the quarter-finals to play the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Other matches happening during this preliminary round include Vancouver FC versus Langley United, Calgary Blizzard SC versus CF Montréal, and Forge FC versus Halifax Wanderers.
