West Shore RCMP has revealed that their Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) has recently recovered more than $140,000 in stolen property from multiple areas throughout Vancouver Island.

This investigation was launched in November 2025, as police were searching for a male suspect who was wanted on several unendorsed warrants.

According to West Shore RCMP, investigators conducted surveillance, and were able to locate and arrest the 42-year-old suspect.

During the arrest, officers recovered a stolen Chevrolet pickup truck and flat deck trailer containing stolen scaffolding, construction equipment and a heavy duty wood splitter.

However, investigators believed the suspect was in possession of additional stolen property.

Several search warrants were then executed, which resulted in the recovery of a significant amount of stolen property.

Among the second cache of stolen property, police recovered a stolen Ford F-350 pickup truck, a stolen RV trailer, a stolen cargo trailer containing construction equipment and various stolen tools.

West Shore RCMP say that the total value of the recovered property is estimated at just over $140,000.

“This investigation highlights the value of proactive enforcement and collaboration within our unit,” said Cpl. Danny Grieve of the West Shore RCMP Crime Reduction Unit.

“Recovering stolen property not only holds offenders accountable, but also allows us to return valuable items to community members and businesses that rely on them.”

Since the investigation, much of the stolen property has been returned to their rightful owners, but police are are still looking to identify the owners of the following items:

  • Speeco 35-ton wood splitter
  • Antique Howe platform scale
  • Fill-Rite pump with red and black tidy tank
  • Dual-lid packer truck bed toolbox containing assorted tools

Police did not disclose where these items could have been stolen from.

Anyone who recognizes these items and believes they know the rightful owners should contact West Shore RCMP at (250) 474-2264.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing, and the suspect has been remanded into custody and charged with several offences following his court appearance.
