Cyclists and others who utilize the Galloping Goose Trail to get around will be impacted over the next several weeks as work has gotten underway on some BC Hydro upgrades.
As of Monday, November 17th, the section of the Galloping Goose that goes through Viaduct Park will be closed on weekdays for five weeks.
This work is being done in order to support critical infrastructure upgrades which are being led by BC Hydro.
The closure will be in place Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until December 19th with a detour around Viaduct Park in place.
The detour will include Waterfront Crescent, Jutland Road, Cecelia Road and Napier Lane through Cecilia Ravine Bike Park.

BC Hydro warns pedestrians and cyclists to plan ahead and use caution, as wayward signage will be in place.
Though the impacted section of trail will be closed on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., it will be open on weekends.
BC Hydro’s project that is impacting the trail is their Victoria to Esquimalt Cable Replacement Project.
This will see a corroded underground transmission cable replaced to improve reliability and address seismic risks.
According to BC Hydro, the existing underground, mineral oil-insulated transmission cable is at the end of its serviceable life and must be replaced.
Widespread corrosion on the line was discovered in August 2023, when a circuit failed in Arbutus Park near the shoreline of the Gorge Waterway and Cecelia Creek.
The new line to be installed over the next five weeks will be oil-free, making it better for the environment, says BC Hydro.
