Though the holiday season is still a month and a half away, the District of Saanich is calling on young creatives to enter the Mayor and Council’s 2025 Holiday Card contest.
For this endeavour, they hope young artists between kindergarten and Grade 5 will submit their designs showing what they love most about the holidays.
The winner of this contest will get to have their artwork, name and grade featured on the annual Saanich holiday card and they will receive some drop-in passes to any of Saanich’s recreation centres.
Additionally, the lucky winner will get to be the ‘Mayor for the Morning,’ where they will be welcomed at the municipal hall to learn the ropes of the job alongside Mayor Murdock.
During their day as acting mayor, they will get to meet firefighters, police officers, staff and will get to participate in a variety of fun experiences.
“From beautiful winter scenes to the holly-day activities and memories they share with family and friends, I can’t wait to see what our young artists share with us this year,” says Saanich Mayor Dean Murdock.
“So kids, let those ideas snowball! Bring your sleigh-game and send us your creative entries today!”
The deadline for submissions will be Wednesday, November 26th, with the winner being announced shortly thereafter.
More details and specifics are available on the District’s website.
