Like it or not, Fall is nearly upon us!
Luckily there are events like this weekend’s Autumn Lantern Festival that make the transition into the cooler months a little more bearable—even beautiful.
A Saturday evening full of lanterns, lights and community, this annual event will take place at Lambrick Park and features cultural entertainment, illuminated lantern displays, food trucks and a lantern-making workshop.
You’re invited to dress up, bring your own LED-lit lantern, or make your own for $5 per lantern!
For $5, you’ll get a kit with everything you need to make your own festive lantern—buy your kit at the Gordon Head Rec reception desk and assemble it in at the lantern workshop space inside the rec centre, where staff and volunteers will be on-hand to help.
While there, don’t forget to check out the Lantern Festival’s lineup of local live performers, including:
- Lək̓ʷəŋən Dancers
- Victoria Chinese Opera Club
- Furusato Dance
- Sampaguita Dance Group
- Taiko Drummers
- Lion Dancers
And if all that lantern-making has you feeling peckish, don’t worry—there will be a long list of local eats on hand, including:
- Kuku’s
- Greek on the Street
- Good Filling Sankaku
- Walnut Cakes
- Axolotl Mexican Flavours
- Softies Ice Cream
