West Shore RCMP have launched an investigation into the alleged assault of a woman who was running on a trail at Thetis Lake Park.
Police are now seeking information from the public in order to identify the suspect.
On August 12th, at around 9 a.m., police say the woman was approached by a man who appeared from the bushes while on a trail within the park.
During this interaction, the woman said the man grabbed her, but she was able to get away from him without sustaining any physical injuries.
West Shore RCMP describe the man as a Caucasian, standing around 6’2” tall, between the ages of 50 and 60-years-old, with grey/blonde short curly hair and a slim build.
The suspect was wearing a short sleeve green t-shirt, khaki pants and dark boots with dark socks at the time of the alleged attack.
“The safety of community members at our parks is a priority,” said Corporal Chris Joy, West Shore Bike Patrol Unit.
“Although incidents like this are rare, they are concerning, and we ask that the public report suspicious activity right away so police can promptly respond. If you see suspicious behaviour or feel unsafe, please contact the police.”
Police ask that anyone with information about this suspect, including photos/videos of a person matching the description, contact West Shore RCMP at (250) 474-2264.
