A woman is recovering from serious, life-altering injuries following a stabbing in downtown Victoria on Wednesday evening.

The incident was the second such attack reported in the area that day.

VicPD officers were called just after 8 p.m. on July 9th to the intersection of Douglas Street and Pandora Avenue, where they found a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Responding officers administered emergency first aid alongside paramedics before she was rushed to hospital.

Few details have been released about the circumstances surrounding the attack, and no suspect description has been provided. The investigation remains ongoing.

Roughly 11 hours earlier, just before 9 a.m., another stabbing took place just blocks away in the 900-block of Pandora Avenue.

In that case, officers were flagged down near the McDonald’s parking lot where a 33-year-old woman had been stabbed in the chest. She was treated on scene by officers and paramedics before being taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

VicPD Chief Del Manak later credited officers with helping save her life.

“Shout out to Constable Erwin & his partner for saving the life of a 33-year-old female at 9 a.m. this morning,” he said in a post on X. “She had been stabbed in the chest. Cst Erwin administered emergency first aid.”

Police say the individuals involved in the morning incident were known to each other. No arrests have been made in either case, but investigators do not currently believe the two stabbings are connected.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call VicPD’s non-emergency line at 250-995-7654 and reference file numbers 25-25873 (morning incident) or 25-25953 (evening incident).
