Port Alberni RCMP investigating suspicious death at popular Vancouver Island park

Police have launched an investigation into a suspicous death after a body was discovered in a popular Port Alberni park Monday evening.

In a media release, Port Alberni RCMP say they were called to Dry Creek Park at 5:41 p.m. on June 16th after receiving a report of a deceased person.

When officers arrived, they found a body with visible injuries. Forensic Identification Services were brought in to process the scene.

The case has since been taken over by the General Investigation Section, which is working alongside the BC Coroner’s Service to determine how the person died.

While police have confirmed the identity of the deceased, their name is not being released to the public at this time.

RCMP are asking anyone who may have information about the incident to contact the Port Alberni detachment at 250-723-2424.
