Late last week, police executed a search warrant at a downtown Victoria supportive housing facility in which they seized a loaded handgun, a kilogram of fentanyl and $40,000 in cash.
The warrant was executed by VicPD’s Strike Force unit, with assistance from the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT), at the Cool Aid-run facility located in the 400-block of Swift Street.
According to police, a drug trafficking investigation was launched into the alleged drug dealer earlier this month, which culminated in the warrant execution at the Swift Street site just after 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14th.
At the scene, a 62-year-old man was arrested for possession with the purpose of trafficking, as well as outstanding warrants for previous files in both Victoria and Saanich.
He was taken to VicPD cells and will be held in custody until his court date.

“This seizure underscores the real dangers posed by individuals involved in drug trafficking, and the impact it has on our community,” said Chief Del Manak.
“To have firearms and significant quantities of Fentanyl present within a facility designed to support the most vulnerable in our community is particularly concerning.”
VicPD says that further details are not available at this time, as this investigation is ongoing.
