A local man got lucky this month and is now a couple hundred thousand dollars richer after winning a contest at Casino Nanaimo.
On April 3rd, Gregory Seward was having a quiet night at home with his daughter when a BCLC representative called him to inform him he had won the ‘Jack Up The Jackpot’ contest at the casino.
Seward won the grand prize draw of $213,639.30 and said he was completely taken aback by the news.
“I couldn’t believe it, I just couldn’t. I was so shocked,” Seward recalled.
His daughter, who was with him at the time, was also in disbelief at the massive amount of money her father had won.
“She was floored and said that she needed to pinch herself,” said Seward.
Seward, a member of the Snuneymuxw First Nation, couldn’t wait to share the good news with fellow members from the Snuneymuxw community.
“Everyone was so excited for me!”
With his newly won cash, Seward says he plans on buying a new Yukon SUV, followed by taking his grandkids on a road trip to Disneyland.
“I’m still in awe. I’m someone who really enjoys life and this win just made everything even better,” said Seward on how it feels to win a prize of this amount.
BCLC said when he came to pick up his novelty-size cheque, Seward was smiling ear-to-ear.
