As uncertainty continues to ripple through our communities, one local organization is holding strong as a pillar of hope and compassion.
Our Place Society is once again opening its doors to host a festive Easter meal for hundreds of Victoria’s most vulnerable residents.
On Tuesday, April 15th at 12 p.m., Our Place’s dining hall will be filled with the scent of roast turkey, mashed potatoes, and rich gravy as more than 600 guests gather for a traditional Easter feast.
“While the world around us may feel increasingly unstable, we work hard to ensure that Our Place remains a constant—somewhere people can count on a hot meal, a warm shower, and a sense of belonging,” says Janice Kalin, Director of Philanthropy.
“This Easter, we’re not only offering a festive meal—we’re celebrating the power of community and the strength that comes from compassion.”
This annual celebration is about more than just food; it’s about community, connection, and compassion.
Helping serve the meal will be a team of dedicated volunteers, including local politicians, media personalities, and even a visit from the Easter Bunny himself!
To top it off, guests will be treated to a sweet surprise courtesy of Rogers’ Chocolates, adding a little extra joy to the day.
But the good news doesn’t stop at the dinner table!
Our Place has recently taken some big steps toward lasting change with the launch of Your Place, a new social enterprise that offers meaningful employment opportunities to individuals in recovery.
And in a major milestone for women’s health and recovery services, the organization has opened New Roads Women’s Therapeutic Recovery Community, which is the first long-term recovery program for women on Vancouver Island.
“These are signs of real and lasting change,” says Kalin.
“We’re building pathways from crisis to stability, one person and one opportunity at a time.”
As spring symbolizes renewal and growth, Our Place is proving that transformation is possible—with compassion, community, and a whole lot of heart.
