VicPD arrest suspect after they were captured on video keying Tesla Cybertruck last week

VicPD have confirmed they have arrested a suspect in connection with the keyed Tesla Cybertruck that was parked in downtown Victoria last week.

After police received a tip from the public, the individual was arrested in the 1000-block of Pakington Street just before 9 a.m. on April 6th.

They were transported to VicPD cells and released shortly after with a promise to appear at a future court date.

According to police, nothing has been sworn by Crown Counsel yet, but they’ll be recommending one count of Mischief under $5,000.

The keying incident occurred on March 31st, just after 5 p.m., when the Cybertruck was damaged while parked in the 800-block of Humboldt Street.

The Tesla’s built-in security cameras captured video surveillance of a suspect approaching the Cybertruck and keying it before leaving the scene.

Police said that this incident marks the second case of mischief involving a Tesla this year, and they believe these acts to be motivated by people’s dissent for Tesla owner Elon Musk and his connections to the US government.
