In anticipation of Canada Day in July, Parksville has already released their itinerary of activities!
This year, they’re not only commemorating the 158th anniversary of Canada’s confederation but also celebrating the City of Parksville’s 80th birthday and the 50th anniversary of the Mount Arrowsmith Pipe Band.
It’s a year of milestones, and they’re pulling out all the stops to make this Canada Day one to remember.
As always, their focus is on creating a fun, family-friendly atmosphere that brings together locals and visitors alike to celebrate the spirit of Canada.
Whether you’re a long-time resident or a first-time visitor, they invite you to share in the festivities, and connect with friends, family, and neighbours!
From early morning to evening, there will be plenty to see, do, and enjoy—including a breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Canada Day Parade at 10 a.m., live entertainment, food trucks and much more.
The live entertainment will take place throughout the day at the Parksville Outdoor Theatre and the Gathering Plaza, featuring performances from the Mount Arrowsmith Pipe Band, Time Well Wasted, Sarah Smith, The Joints and others.
Parksville Outdoor Theatre’s entertainment will run from 12 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and the Gathering Plaza’s will take place from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
If you’re planning on bringing your young ones, don’t forget to check out their face painting setup at the Picnic Shelter from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. They’ll even be handing out cupcakes at 2:30 p.m.!
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., attendees will be able to wander the Summer by the Sea Street Market on Craig Street, boasting a variety of vendors offering local crafts and unique finds.
All of these activities are family friendly and free to attend, so bring all of your loved ones along for the ride!
Sandcastle Drive to Arbutus Point will be closed to vehicles, so parking will be limited. General parking is available in the gravel lot.
If you’re still hoping to participate in the festivities, they’re still accepting applications for the parade and food trucks.
See you there!
