Teen suspect caught hiding in tree after attempted break and enter in Oak Bay

A teenager has some explaining to do after they were caught hiding in a tree after trying to break into an Oak Bay home in the middle of the night on Sunday, March 2nd. 

Just before 2 a.m. a homeowner in Oak Bay called police after seeing live security footage of someone attempting to break into their house. 

Oak Bay Police responded by sending patrol officers along with the Integrated Canine Service. 

Police say that after a lengthy search of the property, the suspect was found hiding out in a tree they had climbed. 

The individual was arrested without incident and found to be a youth, under 18-years-old. 

The suspect was returned to their family after being taken into custody and police say the investigation is ongoing.
