A well-known drug trafficker has been released from custody after being arrested following a three-day drug investigation.
In an ongoing effort to tackle drug trafficking in Victoria, VicPD carried out a three-day investigation this week, leading to the arrest of a drug trafficker known to operate across Vancouver Island.
Using covert tactics, VicPD strike force officers observed the suspect dealing drugs multiple times in the 900-block of Pandora Avenue and within supportive housing facilities.
With enough evidence in hand, investigators obtained a search warrant and, with assistance from the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, raided two of the suspect’s residences—one in the 10-block of Menzies Street and another in the 1400-block of Fort Street.
“Building off the success of the Pandora and Ellice Safety Plan, we remain focused on identifying the criminals who are preying on the most vulnerable people in our community and taking action to combat these crimes,” said Chief Del Manak.
“We are committed to disrupting criminal networks, and I am proud of the work that Strike Force, and all of our officers, are doing to protect the safety and well-being of everyone in our community.”
The suspect was arrested inside one of the residences, and officers seized a significant amount of drugs, cash, and contraband, including $21,000 in cash, 150 Hydromorphone pills, 236 grams of crack cocaine, 176 grams of fentanyl and 480 packs of contraband cigarettes.
The estimated street value of the crack cocaine and fentanyl alone is approximately $31,500.
While initially held in VicPD custody, the suspect was released with conditions following a bail hearing on February 26th.
VicPD said the investigation remains ongoing, with officers working toward recommending charges.
