A Victoria woman has been criminally charged in connection with a two-vehicle crash near Qualicum Beach that occurred over a year ago, leaving one person dead and another seriously injured.
The collision occurred on February 15th of last year at around 11:20 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 4 and Carson Road in Whiskey Creek.
According to Oceanside RCMP, 39-year-old Jasmine Bal of Victoria has now been charged with one count of dangerous driving causing death and one count of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

The crash claimed the life of a 38-year-old passenger in Bal’s vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators from the RCMP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (CARS) were called in to examine the scene and determine the cause of the incident.
Bal is scheduled to appear in court in Nanaimo on March 25th.
As the matter is now before the courts, police say no further details will be released.
