Vancouver Island is home to all sorts of interesting and unique vehicles, but one particularly eye-catching ride is catching the attention of car enthusiasts.
A 2002 Ford Mustang has been heavily modified to resemble a Hot Wheels toy car, complete with a rugged “wasteland” look, a powerful engine, and tons of custom features.
And it’s up for sale at a price of $9,000 on Facebook marketplace.
Affectionately dubbed the “Menice-tang,” this modified Mustang is more than just a car—it’s a one-of-a-kind project that combines creativity, nostalgia, and an undeniable love for adventure.
The car’s journey began as a fun project between a father and son, with the design inspired by a Hot Wheels toy and designed mostly by a 10-year-old boy.

As Scott Ferron, the creator of the vehicle, explains, the idea was based on his son’s love for the Mad Max movies and a Hot Wheels toy he owned.
“It’s a fun project my late father and I started. Based off design from a Hot Wheels toy, my 10-year-old son had and Mad Max movies. My son is the one who designed most of it, and I had to figure out how to build it in real life,” Ferron tells Victoria Buzz.
And build it he did. The Mustang is now a true standout, boasting a host of modifications that make it look like it belongs in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
Highlights of the car include:
- F150 suspension for enhanced durability
- 35-inch tires on the back and 30-inch tires on the front, giving it that towering, off-road appearance
- 5-inch exhaust connected to a 3-inch straight pipe for that distinctive dirt bike sound
- New convertible top and back glass
- LED flood lights on the front, top, and rear to light the way in any condition
- Hood pins for an added tough look
- Hi-Lyft 4-foot jack, shovel, and other tools for survival situations
- Direct air intake, new fuel lines, fuel pump, and a complete overhaul of the engine components
The Mustang is also equipped with features that improve both comfort and practicality, including a GT package stereo, amplifiers, and new seat covers throughout.
The vehicle is battle-tested with eight full inches of clearance under the front nose and two feet of clearance at the back, ensuring that it’s more than capable of tackling tough terrain.

Ferron says the car is “Gambler 500 battle tested,” making it an ideal choice for anyone looking to take their ride off-road or simply enjoy the thrill of driving a one-of-a-kind, custom-built vehicle.
The “Menice-tang” is a father-and-son creation that brings a Hot Wheels-inspired vision to life. It’s a one-of-a-kind, off-road Mustang that blends art and adventure, perfect for anyone who loves unique vehicles.
