North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP have arrested two people following an assault and theft earlier this week.
On Tuesday, February 11th at around 5:29 p.m., police responded to the report of an assault in progress at a convenience store located in the 500-block of Canada Avenue.
One person was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Two people allegedly entered the store, grabbed handfuls of merchandise and were confronted when they exited without paying.
The person who confronted the suspects was assaulted and the suspects fled the area.
Officers were able to identify the two suspects and arrested them at 7:30 a.m. on February 12th. Both of these individuals remain in custody.
“This swift identification and arrest of the suspects was a result of excellent police work by Frontline officers and the Community Safety Unit,” S/Sgt. Steve Perret of the North Cowichan/ Duncan RCMP said.
If you witness a crime in progress, police advise that you call 911, as intervening could put you at risk of harm.
