VicPD are investigating a violent altercation at Mayfair Shopping Centre after a store manager was attacked by a man refusing to leave at closing time.
The incident occurred on Thursday, January 30th, at around 6 p.m. when VicPD officers responded to an abandoned 911 call from the 3100-block of Douglas Street.
The caller initially reported a physical confrontation between a store manager and an unidentified man before the call was disconnected.
Upon arrival, officers found and arrested the suspect in the parking lot.
According to police, the altercation began when the store manager informed the suspect that the store was closing. The man refused to leave, leading to a struggle before he eventually exited the premises.
The manager returned to work, unaware at the time of the severity of his injuries.
The manager was later transported to the hospital by BC Emergency Health Services, where medical staff determined he had sustained serious injuries.
The injuries sustained were not disclosed.
Police would not release further information while the investigation remains ongoing.
