One person killed in early morning house fire in Comox: RCMP

RCMP have confirmed one person is dead after an early morning house fire in Comox. 

At around 1:15 a.m. on January 29th, emergency crews responded to the report of a house fire on the 1900-block of Toronitz Road. 

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, and during a search of the residence, a deceased person was located inside. 

While police believe the identity of the individual is known, positive identification will be confirmed through forensic means.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, however, it’s not believed to be suspicious.

According to RCMP, the BC Coroner’s Service is conducting a concurrent investigation.
