Nanaimo RCMP has released an open call for old but working cellphones!
Not only is this an opportunity to declutter around your house, it’s also the chance to make a difference in someone’s life—particularly if they can’t afford a phone.
So, they’re asking the community to donate any outdated or unused cellphones that still hold a charge and have the ability to call 911.
In a media release, police say they can still serve as a lifeline for someone else despite being slightly outdated.
If this sounds like something you’re interested in, drop off your old phone without the SIM card, and ensure you’ve reset it to “factory reset” to erase all of your personal data.
They will also double check that the phone has been wiped of data, photos etc. from the devices.
Drop it off at the front counter of the Nanaimo detachment, located at 303 Prideaux Street, in Nanaimo.
