VicPD and the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) have provided a timeline update of the events which led to a man’s murder in 2021.
They release this information in hopes of generating new leads in the case which remains unsolved, with no suspects.
Jeremy Gordaneer, a 49-year-old father of two, was killed on August 31st, 2021 in his mother’s Victoria residence while visiting from Edmonton.
Police say they received a call for assistance at around 5 a.m. that day and attended Gordaneer’s mother’s home with paramedics and found the victim there suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Despite their best efforts, Gordaneer died of his wounds at the scene.
VIIMCU investigators soon took over the case and have now released information about Gordaneer’s whereabouts leading up to his death in the hopes that it prompts new information.
Police say Gordaneer went out for dinner with his daughters at a downtown restaurant, then stopped at a pub in the 1100-block of Government Street.
VicPD did not specify which pub he attended, but Irish Times, Garrick’s Head and Bard & Banker all lie within the 1100-block of Government Street.
According to the timeline, Gordaneer then walked north on Fort Street back to his mother’s home on Carberry Gardens.
He was reportedly last seen outside of the residence at 7:51 p.m. that evening.
No arrests have been made in this investigation.
“We are thankful to all of those who came forward with information over the past three years,” said VIIMCU investigator Cst. Elyse Patten.
“The investigation continues, and we are once again asking those with information, who have yet to speak with police, anyone who may have seen a suspicious vehicle or person in the area of the 1000-block of Carberry Gardens in the early morning hour [sic] August 31, 2021, to please contact us.”
In 2022, Gordaneer’s sister, Alisa, and his daughters, Clea and Sylvie, shared a video in which they shared stories about Jeremy as a loving father and caring brother.
In this video, they too appeal to those who may know what happened to Gordaneer to come forward.
