Saanich police are currently investigating a series of suspicious fires that have occurred over the past month and a half at Frank Hobbs Elementary School.
To date, Saanich Police and Saanich Fire Departments have responded to five fires set at the elementary school, the latest fire was set on Monday afternoon.
The incidents, which involved deliberate acts of arson, have raised concerns within the community and prompted authorities to seek public assistance in identifying the perpetrators.
Although the fires were relatively contained and occurred outside of regular school hours, the potential risk of spreading to nearby structures was high.
The incidents took place on the following dates: May 17th, sometime between May 19th-21st, June 18th, June 25th, and July 3rd. The fires were found in various locations, including a garbage bin and beneath the stairs of a portable classroom.
The Saanich Police Major Crime Unit is asking the public to be on the lookout for and immediately report any fires or suspicious activity.
