One of downtown Victoria’s most popular hotspots is up for sale for $25 million.
Market Square occupies half a city block in the heart of downtown Victoria, located just on the east side of the Johnson Street Bridge.
It is composed of a collection of architecturally significant buildings that were built between 1890 and 1912. Within its several structures, there is 56,775 square feet of retail and 38,658 square feet of office space.
Some notable businesses in the collection of buildings include Hey Happy, Whistle Buoy Brewing, The Drake, Cafe Mexico and more. The building is also home to the Pacific Rim College.
The heritage complex is currently owned by Anthem Properties, but is now up for grabs with the sale being handled by Avison Young.
Anthem bought Market Square over 20 years ago; however, financial details of that transaction were kept private.
“Opportunities to acquire assets of this size and prominence rarely come to market,” reads the property’s listing.
“This trophy asset has not been available for sale for more than a decade and is unlikely to trade again for a generation.”
The listing also calls Market Square a “beloved landmark” of Victoria.
