The Langford-Highlands electoral district includes some of Greater Victoria’s western communities and is bounded by the municipal boundaries of Langford and Highlands.
This is another riding that was first created before the 2024 election, and includes parts of the former Langford-Juan de Fuca riding, plus a small part of Esquimalt-Metchosin.
The BC NDP’s Ravi Parmar was the first MLA to be elected in this riding during the last provincial election and he hopes to regain his seat this year.
In 2024, Parmar bested the Conservative Party of BC candidate by around 3,000 votes.
Here are the candidates running to be the next MLA of the Langford-Highlands electoral district.
Ravi Parmar – BC NDP (incumbent)
Parmar was elected as an MLA in 2023 after he won a byelection in the riding of the late John Horgan.
When he was elected, Parmar was the youngest representative in the 43rd Legislative Assembly. He has since served in David Eby’s cabinet as minister of forests.
Before Parmar was involved in provincial politics, he was chair of the Sooke School Board, where he worked with his predecessor John Horgan and the BC NDP government on the largest expansion of public schools in the district’s history.
While campaigning for the 2024 election, Parmar and Eby committed to build a new secondary school in north Langford, which is set to break ground in 2027.
Parmar has now been representing the region since 2023.

Christopher Moon – BC Green Party
Moon is a public servant, union supporter and has lived in Langford with his husband since 2021.
He was born and raised in Victoria, and cares about the future of the West Shore as well as BC’s coastal environment.
Professionally, Moon has over nine years of experience with the Ministry of Forests and BC Wildfire Service. There he worked in financial administration, payroll and team leadership.
Over time, he progressed from an entry-level clerical role to provincial payroll lead.
While working with BC Wildfire, Moon also earned a diploma in public administration from Camosun College.
Moon was inspired to run for office due to the rising cost of housing, groceries and everyday necessities.
If elected, he would prioritize accessible public services, economic security for working people and long-term planning over short-term solutions.
He would also focus on affordability, strong public services and responsible environmental stewardship.
This will be the first provincial election Moon is a candidate in.

When he campaigned to be leader of the Christian Heritage Party of BC, he ran unopposed on a platform heavily focused on stopping “indoctrination” in public schools while promoting homeschooling.

Alex Thurlborn – Independent
Thurlborn grew up in Sooke and has a background working in BC’s public transportation system.
He is running to give voters a local choice that is unattached to any political party and advocates for free voting, uncensored parliamentary debate and true committee objectivity.
Thurlborn emphasizes looking at every issue purely on its own—supporting good ideas regardless of which party brings them forward, and opposing policies he believes would harm the community or province.
This is Thurlborn’s first election as a candidate.
Because he is an Independent candidate, Thurlborn has no official platform.
