Nanaimo RCMP and Ladysmith RCMP are seeking the public’s help to identify a suspect wanted for an alleged indecent act.

At around 3 p.m. on Monday, September 7th, a woman reported observing a man that allegedly committed an indecent act near the Nanaimo River.

Police say the woman reported that the indecent act occurred just north of Spruston Road, close to the boundary between Nanaimo and Ladysmith RCMP jurisdictions.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man, approximately in his late 50s, with a slim build, under 6’ tall and balding on top with light brown hair on the sides

He was last seen wearing light blue swim shorts and carrying a blue towel.

To aid in identifying the suspect, a composite sketch has been released to the public.

While this is a Ladysmith RCMP investigation Nanaimo RCMP is helping to identify the suspect due to the close proximity of the two detachments and location of the offence.

Anyone who was in the area indicated above between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday, September 7th, or anyone who can assist in identifying the male, is asked to call Ladysmith RCMP at (250) 245-2215.
