It’s another four years for Grace Lore in Victoria–Beacon Hill.
The incumbent for BC NDP has been re-elected in Saturday’s provincial election, securing another term.
Lore was first elected in 2020, and has once again earned the support of voters in a riding that includes downtown Victoria, James Bay, Fairfield and Fernwood.
Before entering provincial politics, Lore worked as a political science instructor at the University of Victoria and was involved in community advocacy.
Since being elected, she has held multiple positions under the BC NDP government, including Minister of State for Child Care and Minister of Children and Family Development.
Victoria–Beacon Hill has historically been a stronghold for the BC NDP, with former MLA Carole James representing the riding for 15 years before Lore took over in 2020.
In the last provincial election, Lore successfully defended her seat against a challenge from then-BC Green Party leader Sonia Furstenau.
Saturday’s result marks Lore’s third consecutive provincial election victory, continuing the NDP’s long-standing representation in the riding.
Her re-election comes amid a significant shift in BC’s political landscape, with the BC Conservatives projected to form government.
